Design is about solving problems, communicating
ideas & creating experiences

There are many aspects that come together to create a successful business and I believe that design ties them all together. As a digital product designer, I can help you communicate what you stand for through your brand; understand who your customers are and what they want from your service; and create a product that’s simple and intuitive to use - be it an app, website or any other interface.

Career

After achieving my Masters in Product Design from the University of Leeds, I’ve spent the last 12 years honing my skills in all aspects of digital design.

After working for different agencies and freelance projects early in my career, I settled at W12 Studios for many years. As an Associate Design Director there for 2.5 years, I independently led multiple projects for top clients from around the world and across different sectors. Overseeing all aspects of a project, from proposal through to development, my skillset is broad.

For the last 3 years I’ve been working as a Freelance Consultant, working for top agencies such as R/GA and Moving Brands. I also work with small businesses to design and build websites and products, including launching my own subscription product.

Sectors

The process I follow requires me to gain an in-depth understanding of your business. In order to create a solution that balances your business needs, with your customer's needs and expectations, along with technical constraints, I have to understand your sector. I would propose, therefore, that I can solve for any sector. That being said, here are some I have client experience within:

TV / Streaming
E-commerce
Retail
Fitness
Finance
Logistics
Storage
Recruitment
Gallery / Experiential
E-learning
Telecoms
Social

Process

As someone who has worked agency-side for the majority of their career, and now contracting as a consultant, one of my greatest skills is to deliver when the ideal process cannot be followed. Different companies operate in different ways, which I adapt to as a consultant. Add to that challenges with resourcing, timelines, scope changes, etc. and it's critical to still deliver around these challenges.

If you're a company looking to work with me directly, my process can be broken down into 3 core phases:

Understand Context
Gathering requirements for business goals, customer needs, technical constraints, benchmarking, brand values, etc. Often running workshops and, if research is needed, conducting at this stage.
Deliverables such as use case libraries, personas/jobs to be done, audits and reports.

Create a vision
Setting visual direction along with foundational UX such as information architecture, integration mapping, primary user journeys and wireframes, leading into finished screens for testing.

Make it real
Adjusting designs to build out all use cases in full, including edge cases for screens, flows and documentation. If tokens and components haven't been made yet, creating those for development.
