Voot is a popular Indian streaming service. Best known for reality content, they have started producing high quality original dramas and shows. Voot came to us looking to mature their brand perception into a more premium offering and consolidate their services into a single product. Complete design of the OTT product across TV, Mobile and Web.
Voot wanted to consolidate their sub-brands into one. The vibrancy of Indian culture was key to represent, but too many colours were clashing with the already bright content artwork. We stripped the palette back to lead with the primary purple for a bold brand colour and dark secondary shades for a cinematic backdrop in the product. A wave with subtle gradient added a graphical element as a nod to the purpose of ‘spark emotion’.
Whilst mobile was most important, we designed the product epic by epic on all platforms at once. This ensured a consistent experience for that feature/section across all platforms, adapting where necessary to any native UX patterns. With 9 variations in total, we developed an extensive design language.
In addition to seasons and episodes, a lot of the reality shows have clips and interactive content like quizes and polls to engage with. We designed a template that could flex from a single movie up to these content-heavy shows.
Previous products were to be consolidated into one service with some free content and a subscription premium tier. We carefully merged all the content together to help up-sell the premium content and made upgrading a simple process.
